The Funder File

Our story

Most small nonprofits do not have a grant writer. The executive director writes applications at night, the program lead builds the budget in a spreadsheet nobody else understands, and the same paragraph about the organization is rewritten for every funder.

The Funder File started from a simple observation: grant applications ask the same five things in different words. Who are you, what problem do you address, what will you do, what will change and what will it cost. If you write each answer once, carefully, with its sources, you can reuse it for every funder.

So we built kits around one working file per organization: a library of your own facts and standard wording, a logic model that gives your objectives and evaluation, a budget whose formulas write the justification and the budget versus actual report, a calendar for funders, deadlines and reports, and templates shaped to each type of funder in the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada.

What we promise, and what we do not

  • Every guide lists the official sources it relies on, and is checked against them.
  • No template can guarantee funding. Funders decide on their own priorities and budgets.
  • No invented figures: every amount, rate and target comes from your own records and each funder's rules.
  • Flat prices. No commission, no percentage of your grant, no subscription.
  • Your own words. The kits give you structure and prompts; funders want to hear your organization's voice, and some, like the National Lottery Community Fund, do not accept applications written for you by bid writers or consultants.
