How the documents work together

  1. The Boilerplate Library holds your facts and community impact.
  2. The Corporate Request template is for grants; the Sponsorship Proposal template is for sponsorships, with recognition levels and a sample acknowledgment.
  3. The budget, logic model, calendar and report templates complete the file.

Questions about this kit

What is the difference between a sponsorship and advertising?

Under Treasury Regulation 1.513-4, a sponsor can be acknowledged with its name, logo, value-neutral descriptions and contact details. Comparative or qualitative claims, prices, endorsements and calls to buy are advertising. The template keeps recognition to acknowledgments.

Do we need to give sponsors a receipt?

The guide explains the IRS written acknowledgment for gifts of $250 or more and the disclosure for payments over $75 that are partly for goods or services, as described in IRS Publication 1771.

Is this tax advice?

No. It is general information to help you prepare. For a specific agreement, ask a tax adviser.
